The Northumberland Manuscript, conjecturally dated to the 1590s, contains works by Bacon and others. Its frontispiece, however, shows what appear to be absent-minded doodlings of names, including those of Bacon and Shakespeare. Titles of several Shakespearean plays suggest that copies might once have been included in the manuscript. If so, they are no longer extant.
