Hello Readers,
New year, new book, new website. And the return of my heroine—and, as it sometimes seems, friend—Kate Stanley.
My latest novel has just been released as The Shakespeare Curse in the UK, where it's already a Sunday Times Top 10 bestseller. It comes out in the U.S. in April titled Haunt Me Still—but you can already pre-order it online.
It’s been a long time coming, though I began working on it just after I finished Interred With Their Bones (UK title: The Shakespeare Secret). My son arrived two months after that book came out, however, and I quickly discovered that balancing books and a baby would require ongoing and amazing feats of nimbleness. It took me a while to find my rhythm. Even after I did, with a baby giggling somewhere in the background, it often proved hard to make myself go to a dark imaginative place of blood magic and ritual murder. (Really, how does Stephen King sleep at night?)
But Kate’s story, and behind that, the history of Lady Elizabeth Stewart—the real woman who may have inspired Lady Macbeth—kept pulling me in. I hope you like the results as much as I do.
And now on to the next book…
Cheers,
Jennifer
